Announcing the launch of Chrissie Michaels’ new book, In Lonnie’s Shadow

Chrissie Michaels will be appearing at 7pm this evening (Thursday 27th May) at the Emerging Writers’ Festival to launch her new book. The venue is the Wheeler Centre, 176 Little Lonsdale Street, Melbourne.

Here are some photos of the Melbourne locations that inspired Chrissie to write the book.

The last remaining house in Casselden Place.

It’s a little spooky that Casselden Place is a laneway just off Little Lonsdale Street – which is where the Wheeler Centre is.

The fountain is in front of the Royal Exhibition Buildings. This is where Lonnie is chased after the break in. It’s also the start and finish of the illegal street race.

And here’s a snippet from In Lonnie’s Shadow:

The discovered artefacts from an archaeological dig in Melbourne become the backdrop for this story about a group of teenagers in 1891 who are struggling to make their way in a world that seems to be conspiring against them whichever way they turn. Lonnie McGuinness knows only one thing for sure – there doesn’t seem to be any fairness in life for him or his mates. So he decides to take matters into his own hands.

But when does a favour turn into a crime?

And when should a secret no longer be kept?
